750th BOMBARDMENT SQUADRON (H)

750th emblem                                        317th emblem

According to the Institute of Heraldry the 750th Bombardment Squadron never had their emblem approved by the Quartermaster General. It could have been overlooked and as mister Will Fluman said “lots of things were overlooked in ‘the time of war’. According to corporal Lester Fried, who designed the other emblems, the 750 “never got around to asking me to design one for them so I missed a ‘grand slam'”. The group probably choose another emblem that was already approved but for another Bombarardment Group. The Institute of Heraldry holds the approval of the emblem for the 317th Bombardment Group which belonged to the 88th Bombardment Group (H). This group was activated on 15 July 1943 but was disbaned on 1 May 1944. The group was equipped with B-17 bombers and was based in the pacific. It was later used as an Operational Training Unit and in December of 1942 it became a replacement training unit. The group and its four squadrons (316th, 317th, 318th and 319th Bombardment Squadron) were all inactivated on 1 May 1944.

On March 19 1943, letter shown below, the emblem for the 317th Bombardment Sqaudron is approved.
